Bwindi Impenetrable National Park sits in the 3 districts-Kabale, Kisoro and Kanungu in Southwestern Uganda. It is a spectacular UNESCO site with area coverage of 331sq.kms featuring a vast ‘Impenetrable’ forest. Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Tour Kigali then drive to Bwindi via border crossing
Get the best of your leisurely breakfast, leave the hotel for Kigali city tour. This introduces you into Kigali/Gisozi genocide centre, local markets among others and you will a lunch break. Cross to Bwindi via Katuna/Chanika border to Kabale/Kisoro Town, about 3-4 hours’ drive in a 4×4 drive car. Spend your evening relaxing at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest; drive back to Kigali via border crossing
Enjoy a hefty breakfast early morning, then get to Bwindi offices for briefing on dos and don’ts for gorilla trekking. Come along with your snacks and bottled water since the trek requires some physical fitness.
At 8:00am, begin your trek to see gorillas in Bwindi. You will be allocated a gorilla group which you will trek in a group 8 visitors. All 20 gorilla families can be tracked in Bwindi National Park alone and this is possible in anyone of the 4 gorilla regions. This is an exhilarating adventure taking you 2-6 hours but includes an hour of a close interaction with gorillas, photography.
