The 3 days Uganda gorilla tour takes you to Bwindi impenetrable forest to meet the most endangered mountain Gorillas in the south western side of Uganda. The major highlight of this trip is an encounter with an adult silverback as it leads the group in the daily activities.
Uganda is home to the highest population of mountain Gorillas than all other Gorilla destinations in the world. Bwindi has a total of 19 habituated Gorilla families and the other family lives in the neighboring Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Details
Day 1: Kampala to Bwindi NP
You will be picked from your hotel after breakfast by our professional guide who will be your driver at the same time and set off a long journey to Bwindi National Park. You will drive through Masaka as you head to the western side of the pearl of Africa. Enjoy the fresh breath from the lush green vegetation on the roadside as you drive through this country side. You will have a stopover at the equator for an unforgettable picture moment and then proceed to Mbarara where you will break off for lunch before proceeding to Bwindi through Kabale town.
The journey will take you 6-8 hours depending on the stopovers and you will arrive in the evening hours and check in at the lodge. Dinner and night stay at the lodge with in the park. There’s no doubt that this 3 days Gorilla tour will lead you to these endangered creatures in Bwindi.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast at the lodge, your driver will transfer you to the park offices where you will be briefed with other guests on the tracking guidelines and rules. You will be allocated gorilla groups to track in groups of 8 people for each gorilla family. The gorillas are habituated and are safe for you to watch so closely without any harm. Hit the jungle in a group as you search for these habituated mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed to watch them for a whole hour taking beautiful pictures of the gorillas.
After this, you will be led back to the starting point where you will meet your driver and return to the lodge. If time allows, will have a community visit to the surrounding villages to interact with the locals and to learn about their daily lives. You will be entertained by the traditional performances by the local people and if you’re willing, you can join the dance and the music. Return to the lodge have dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
After having breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and embark on the long yet interesting journey to return to Kampala. Enjoy great views of the rolling hills of this area near Bwindi as you depart to catchup with other interesting activities.
You will have a stopover at Igongo cultural center to catchup with the Ankole culture with traditional performances, you will also have a chance to watch the beautiful long-horned cattle in the farms as you proceed to Kampala. You will then head to the airport for your final flight.
