Your 7 days Rwanda gorillas and Zanzibar combines mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and visit to Zanzibar beach holiday. It will start from Rwanda ends in Tanzania. Volcanoes National Park is Rwanda’s magnificent mountain gorilla park perched suitably in the Ruhengeri area, Northwestern side of the country.
It comprises of 10 gorilla families, all of which are ready for gorilla trekking. Zanzibar is one fabulous place worth visiting in Africa and this package offers you that opportunity to explore its unique islands, history, culture and a lot more.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Kigali, Rwanda to Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast and after, meet your guide in Kigali for transfer to Volcanoes National Park but this will be after the Kigali city expedition. Explore in-depth about the 1994 Rwanda genocide while on a visit to Gisozi genocide memorial site; visit the local markets, museums and others places.
Take 2-3 hours’ drive to Volcanoes National Park in Northwestern Rwanda to check in at your lodge.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking & visit to Ibyiwacu village
Have a heavy breakfast and later, assemble at Kinigi where you will meet the team from Volcanoes National Park. You will be cleared, briefed on gorilla trekking rules and assigned to a gorilla family and park guide. Your trek in unpredictable as it may take 2-6 hours depending on your speed of hike, nature of the habitat.
Once you come across mountain gorillas, the park guide will allow you to spend strictly 1 hour with them.
Return thereafter to enjoy lunch and chill as you wait for Iby’Iwacu cultural village walk in the evening. On a cultural trip, expect to be entertained by local residents, learn about their lifestyles, dances, music performances, traditions and a lot more. Retreat from your authentic African cultural experience to relax at the lodge, dine and have overnight stay.
Day 3: Drive to Kigali airport then fly to Zanzibar
Have an early morning breakfast and after, check out of the lodge in Volcanoes National Park then return to Kigali 2-3 hours’ drive. Take a flight to Zanzibar where you will meet your tour leader who will drive you to a hotel in Zanzibar.
Zanzibar is known for its sandy beaches, unique history, culture and there is a lot to explore while here. You will take a walk via the labyrinth of streets in Stone Town, explore the ruins of the ancient Sultan Palaces, chill on the sandy beaches or swim with dolphins
Day 4: Explore Zanzibar Island
Have breakfast and you can choose to relax at the hotel, relax on beautiful sandy beach or go engage in snorkeling experiences or diving. There is also a chance for you to go cycling and have a fun-filled experience.
Day 5: From Stone Town connect to Nungwi
After breakfast, go for snorkeling tour. Sail in a traditional dhow to any of the reefs, take about 1-2 hours viewing marine life that thrive in the corals of Zanzibar.
Day 6: Entire Day exploration in Zanzibar
After breakfast, have an absolute experience at Zanzibar beach/set off to Stone Town for whole day tour along the West coast.
Day 7: Drive to Zanzibar Airport
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Zanzibar Airport to catch up with your flight back home.
