3 Days Gorilla Tour in Rwanda

The major highlight of the 3 days Gorilla tour in Rwanda will be a visit to the cleanest city in Africa, Ibyiwacu Cultural village and meeting the endangered mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park north west of the country.

Rwanda is one of the three countries where these endangered mountain gorillas live. The trip starts and ends in Kigali.

Details of the itinerary

Day 1: Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be picked by our driver/guide from your Hotel in Kigali after the morning breakfast and head to the city for an amazing city tour. There will be visits to the genocide memorial site where remains of thousands of innocent people who died in the genocide were buried. Stories of this tragedy will be shared by the guides on how the people engaged in killing each other in 1994.

You will also visit the local markets to catch a fruit and see how the indigenous people of Rwanda make a living daily. After this impressive tour you will be led Northwards towards the Volcanoes National park the home of mountain Gorillas in Rwanda. On arrival to the park, you will check in to the lodge relax, have dinner and spend a night there.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park

After the morning meal at the lodge, you will be driven to the park offices by our guide to meet the other team of guests for briefing by the park staff. The rules of tracking are given here and then you will be divided into groups of 8 guests to visit a particular Gorilla group. You will then be led into the forest with t team of researchers to look for the habituated Gorillas. Rwanda has a total of 10 habituated Gorillas which gives a high chance of sighting them during the tour.

You will then be allowed to watch them for One hour watching the, taking pictures and asking any questions you wish to ask about them. You will then be led to the starting point after watching the Gorillas to meet your driver and go for lunch and visit the Ibyiwacu cultural village.

This village is in the neighborhood of the Volcanoes National Park and was started as a non-profit making organization meant to preserve the Rwandan cultural values and also improve the livelihood of the locals. After this historical cultural tour, you will return to the lodge to have some rest from the long day. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Return to Kigali

Have breakfast at the lodge and check out and set off back to Kigali city, you will have a short visit to the museum and the craft shops to catch some souvenirs to remind you about Rwanda. Lunch will be served in the city and drive off to the airport in the afternoon for departure.
